Nigeria Health Cohort

Commissioned by Ambassador Abike Dabiri-Erewa and developed in partnership with NiDCOM and Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Health. Diaspora and local professionals work together as Fellows and Associates to produce government-ready reform recommendations.

Government Mandate
A specific reform challenge identified by the Nigerian government. Every engagement starts here — no generic briefs, no vague topics.

The Fellow Pair
One diaspora Fellow. One local Fellow. Selected for domain expertise. Supported by up to five Associates. Working together for 8–10 weeks.

The Concept Note
A government-ready document proposing a specific, actionable solution. Written to be acted upon — not filed away.
Mandate 01
Specialist Telemedicine Protocols
Design a regulatory and clinical framework enabling diaspora specialists to deliver telemedicine consultations within Nigeria's health system.
Mandate 02
Diaspora-Led Training for Priority Shortages
Develop a structured skills transfer program connecting diaspora clinicians with local health workers in high-shortage specialties.
Mandate 03
Referral Pathway Redesign
Redesign referral systems to reduce patient leakage and improve coordination between primary, secondary, and tertiary care.
Mandate 04
Targeted Regulatory Fixes
Identify and propose amendments to regulatory bottlenecks preventing diaspora health professionals from contributing to Nigerian health infrastructure.
Mandate 05
Implementation Support for Ministry-Ready Reforms
Provide technical support on one or two reforms already approved by the Federal Ministry of Health but stalled at the implementation stage.

Your Role

Both diaspora and local professionals apply through the same platform and hold equal standing as Fellows and Associates.

Fellow
Lead a reform mandate alongside a peer counterpart. Requires deep domain expertise. One diaspora + one local Fellow per mandate.
Associate
Contribute specialist knowledge at key activation points. Up to five Associates support each mandate team.
